Teleconference: an overview

Ruzuku-hosted teleconferences include:

  1. Scheduling and notifications: You schedule the call in your course, and Ruzuku will send automatic email reminders to participants. This is a great option for maximizing attendance on your calls.

  2. Slides: you can upload a slide deck and present slides live to your participants.
  3. Resources: you can post downloadable resources, such as PDF of a worksheet or handout.
  4. Visual moderation and muting: A visual interface for seeing everyone on the call. As the presenter, you can see everyone's name and photo, and simply click on someone's name to un-mute her line and allow her to ask a question. This makes it really easy to moderate calls, especially with a lot of people.
    1. Note: Although participants' voices will be muted during the teleconference, telephonic sounds (phone dial key noises, beeps) may be heard. This is part of the telephony technology and muting these sounds isn't possible.
    2. When a participant is muted, they will still appear as On the Call.  However, they will no longer be On the Air.
  5. Chat: A group chatroom, in which participants can type in comments and questions. This is especially useful for people who don't like to speak up on a group call - they often feel much more comfortable typing rather than speaking.
  6. Automatic recording: Ruzuku records the call and posts the audio recording back into the course automatically, with no effort on your part. This alone can be a big time-saver. Note that the chat box and slide presentation is not included in the recording; the recording is restricted to the audio portion of your presentation.

Note: Teleconferences are limited to 200 live participants.
